FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT RELEASED FOR SPRINGDALE NORTHERN BYPASS


LITTLE ROCK (10-31)     

     The Ark ansas St ate Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have released the Final Environmental Impact St atement of the proposed Springdale Northern Bypass (Highway 412) for public review and comment.

     An analysis of the preferred route was conducted by the AHTD in cooperation with the FHWA and the results of the analysis are documented in the recently issued impact statement.  The document includes an in-depth evaluation of the preferred route for social, economic and environmental impacts, traffic analysis, development of conceptual design and estimated costs.

     The Final Environmental Impact St ate ment has been distributed to courthouses, city halls, libraries and AHTD offices throughout the project area.  It is also available on the internet on the AHTD website at www.arkansashighways.com/Environ/SpecialStudies/001966/001966.htm.  Paper or digital copies of the document may be obtained by contacting the AHTD at: AHTD Environmental Division, P.O.       All public comments on the impact statement are due to AHTD by November 23, 2005.  No public meetings will be held during the comment period.
