Applications for Trail Development Funds Available

February 20, 1998 -- The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department is accepting applications for recreational trail development funds, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

These funds are appropriated by Congress to build and maintain motorized, non-motorized and multiple use recreational trails. Local, state and federal government agencies and incorporated not-for-profit agencies are eligible to apply for and utilize these funds.

The funds will be available to successful applicants on a matching basis. One half of a project’s cost will come from the federal funds allocated to the state, while the other half will come from the project’s sponsor. Donations of private funds, materials and services can be counted toward the sponsor’s share of the project cost.

Box 2261, Little Rock, Arkansas 72203, or call 501-569-2020. To be eligible, applications must be received at the AHTD headquarters building in Little Rock no later than 4:00 P.M. Friday, June 12, 1998.
