Notice to MediaAHTD To Make Improvements To I-30 Frontage Road
LITTLE ROCK (5-18)
– The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be
installing a box culvert on the north frontage road along Interstate 30 near
Benton beginning Saturday, May 19 through Sunday, May 20, according to AHTD
Director Dan Flowers.
In an
effort to minimize inconvenience to motorists, all work will take place during
the weekend to eliminate an impact on weekday commuter traffic.
“We are scheduling work as much as possible during nonpeak hours to
reduce traffic flow problems and to lessen the impact on motorists commuting to
work,” said Flowers. “As we
increase the amount of construction in the coming months, we will continue to
explore work schedules to better accommodate motorists,” added Flowers.
The work will begin at 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning and continue until 6:00
a.m. Sunday morning, weather permitting.
The
work is part of the overall $6.4 million Highway 5 Crossover project, which is
included as part of improvements to Interstate 30 between Little Rock and
Benton. The installation of the box
culvert will require temporary closure of the north frontage road along
Interstate 30 at mile marker 119. The
location of the work is between the Alcoa Road and Highway 5 interchanges.
Motorists
may want to use an alternate route or allow extra travel time during the
closure. As always, motorists are
urged to “Think Ahead”, “Buckle-up”, and exercise caution when traveling
through work zones. ####
