Notice to MediaHighway Work Scheduled Near I-440 LITTLE
ROCK (9-20) – A
contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD)
will be working on the Dick Jeter Road Overpass, which extends over I-40 and is
located east of I-440. The
work will begin Saturday, September 22 and continue through Sunday, September
23, 2001, weather permitting, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. This
work is part of the Interstate Rehabilitation Program, which will improve 60% of
the state’s 655-mile Interstate system. The
purpose of the work is to raise the overpass structure to maintain minimum
clearance for traffic traveling on I-40. This
particular project is part of the rehabilitation of Interstate 40 from Highway
67 to the Lonoke County line. The
work will require temporary lane closures on the following dates and times: Saturday,
September 22 and Sunday, September 23
Motorists
may want to use an alternate route or allow extra travel time during the
closure. As always, motorists are
urged to “Think Ahead”, “Buckle-up” and exercise caution when
